It is indubitable that in our modern world, nanotechnology is fundamental for the manipulation of materials from their basic building blocks, so that their physicochemical properties may be controlled. For this reason, herein is presented the use of nanotechnology at the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) as a tool for the design and development of novel materials. Also the infrastructure that IMP has for the characterization, scaling-up, and evaluation, at micro and pilot level, of nanomaterials.
