MIRANDA TORREZ, Julián. Competence and involving middle managers in strategic processes in organizations: a theoretical model. Investig. adm. [online]. 2011, vol.40, n.108, pp.19-32. ISSN 2448-7678.
In this paper, we aim to present a theoretical model that explains the relationship of strategic competencies (knowledge, skills and experience) that have managers who hold positions in the middle levels of the organizational hierarchy to the level of involvement in develop the strategic processes of organizations. This model is an alternative to the theoretical perspectives proposed by Hambrick & Mason (1984) and Floyd & Wooldridge (2000). To build the new proposal, an extensive literature review and a qualitative methodology was applied to document analysis.
This proposal will be useful to conduct empirical research in medium and large organizations, both public and private, using qualitative and quantitative methodologies to this end; we propose the propositions that relate the constructs of the model.
