MUNIVE LOZA, Leila Susan. Chromatic record of pre-Columbian textiles from the south coast of Peru to strengthen the development of design and archeology projects. Zincografía [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.11, pp.31-46.  Epub 23-Maio-2022. ISSN 2448-8437.  https://doi.org/10.32870/zcr.v6i11.119.

This article narrates the importance of color as an identity feature and a fundamental component in visual communication, considering that the identity of some cultures has its roots in the colors that have distinguished their art throughout history.

The efforts of the human being to organize the vast set of colors that we distinguish are born from Aristotle and continue to the present with the Munsell and Pantone color catalogs. However, the colors typical of Peruvian cultures are not precisely identified in these patterns, in addition to the fact that, in Peru, it is not common to have its own color identification system. There is no chromatic register of pre-Columbian textiles or a range of colors that identifies them as a culture in the world and that facilitates their use in projects that need to communicate identity. The archeologists of the textile area of some museums in Peru did not have an exact color description at the time of the registration and conservation of textiles. This is how Peru in Color is designed, a chromatic record of pre-Columbian textiles from the southern coast of Peru that will serve as a tool to strengthen cultural identity in design projects, archeology, architecture and other related disciplines.
