ROY-GARCIA, Ivonne A; RODRIGUEZ-SUASTO, Nicolás; SERRANO-ROBLES, José G  e  RIVAS-RUIZ, Rodolfo. Mortality in adults with COVID-19. Rev. Mex. med. familiar [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.3, pp.99-105.  Epub 24-Maio-2024. ISSN 2696-1296.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rmf.23000038.

Objective: Determine the predictors of mortality, clinical, biochemical, and imaging, in patients with COVID-19. Method: A retrospective cohort was carried out, including hospitalized patients older than 19 years old, and diagnosed with COVID-19. Clinical history and biochemical markers at the time of hospital admission were considered as predictors of mortality. Multiple logistic regression models calculated the odds ratio (OR) and its 95% confidence interval (95%CI). Results: 604 patients were included, with a mean age of 58.9 years, and an evolution time of 18 days. Mortality was 37.3%. Predictors of mortality were age > 50 years (OR: 1.9; 95%CI: 1.1- 2.3), chronic kidney disease (CKD) (OR: 2.4; 95%CI: 1.2-4.8), obesity (OR: 1.6; 95%CI: 1.0-2.5), neutrophil/lymphocyte (NL) index > 12 (OR: 2.0; 95%CI: 1.3-3.2), C-reactive protein (CRP) > 10 (OR: 4.2; 95%CI: 2.4, 7.1), lactate dehydrogenase (LHD) > 250 (OR: 3.4; 95%CI: 1.6-7.3), platelets < 150 (OR: 2.8; 95%CI: 1.5-5.4), and computed tomography (CT) score > 16 (OR: 3.4; 95%CI: 2.1-5.4). Conclusions: Age > 50, presence of CKD, obesity, N/L index, CRP > 10, LHD > 250, platelets < 150, and CT score > 16 are predictors of mortality in hospitalized patients.
