ALCALA-DE LOZA, Rodolfo. Management of trauma in lower limb with arterial and venous compromise. Rev. mex. angiol. [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.3, pp.106-110.  Epub 25-Set-2023. ISSN 2696-130X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rma.22000042.

Vascular trauma is a surgical emergency that has become a public health problem worldwide, and particularly in our country. Arterial and venous injuries can result in limb loss, and may represent the cause of death or to contribute to this. The consequences of a vascular injury will depend on the mechanism exerted to cause the damage, the site of the injury, the associated injuries, a correct early diagnosis and a treatment or repair as satisfactory as conditions allow. The objective of this article is to describe the clinical case of a 49-year-old man whit vascular injury of the superficial femoral artery, femoral vein and extensive loss of soft tissues, secondary to a penetrating injury due to a motorcycle accident, who did not require the use of fasciotomy and neither did he present reperfusion syndrome. The postoperative period occurred without major complications, hemodynamically stable course. He required multidisciplinary management by the departments of Angiology, Plastic surgery, and Critical Care Medicine, achieving limb salvage.
