VILLALOBOS-TORRES, Yaiza; ARIAS-MIRA, David E. e PULIDO-MARINO, Carol Y.. May-Thurner syndrome: case presentation and literature review. Rev. mex. angiol. [online]. 2024, vol.52, n.1, pp.35-38. Epub 16-Abr-2024. ISSN 2696-130X. https://doi.org/10.24875/rma.23000018.
May-Thurner syndrome is defined as the set of clinical manifestations secondary to anatomical extrinsic compression of the common iliac vein by the iliac artery, which can trigger recurrent thrombotic events and post-thrombotic syndrome. This anatomical variation can occur in approximately 1 in 4 people, who will develop the syndrome once they are faced with a triggering noxa, which is why the approach based on contrasted abdomen imaging in patients with unilateral recurrent venous thrombosis is accurate to identify said anomaly in time, given the requirement of minimally invasive interventions as described in the present case.
