In the following lines, a reflection is shared on the importance, meaning and validity of social bioethics in our days. Although it is true that the term “bioethics” is frequently related to issues of clinical ethics problems and dilemmas within hospitals, as well as to the defense of non-human animals and the environment, bioethics has a wedge of intervention with groups of people whose rights are violated or who, due to their condition, have been socially invisible. For this reason, the inclusion of social bioethics as a tool for educational intervention in sectors that have been marginalized or excluded, as well as a mechanism that allows the empowerment of people who belong to vulnerable groups, based on the principles and notions with which bioethics itself works.
