This text analyzes thegastronomic motives in the work of Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki, in order to discuss their aesthetic and metaphysical implications. In order to do so, we offer a brief semblance of the author and raise the problem on how to interpret his texts, in stark contrast to Western philosophical hermeneutics and in relation with a philosophical digression on Paul Ricœur’s and Michel Foucault’s notions of utopia and heterotopia.
