This work focuses on Maten al león, a novel by Jorge Ibargüengoitia, a rather unusual literary figure. It aspires to remark some stylistic and historical elements that, on one hand, enroll this novel in what Mikhail Bakhtin calls the comic-serious genres tradition, and on the other hand offers a fresh and renewed vision of Mexican history.
