MARTINEZ-ICO, Miguel; CETZAL-IX, William; NOGUERA-SAVELLI, Eliana  e  HERNANDEZ-JUAREZ, Rodrigo. Vascular flora of the Bazom community, the Chiapas Highlands, Mexico. Bot. sci [online]. 2015, vol.93, n.1, pp.53-72. ISSN 2007-4476.  https://doi.org/10.17129/botsci.136.

A floristic inventory of oak-pine vegetation from the Bazom community located in the Huixtán municipality, in the central Highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, is presented. The list includes 353 taxa, distributed in 95 families, 235 genera, 342 species, three subspecies, seven varieties, and one natural hybrid. There are 55 species included in some category of risk, 52 according to IUCN and three according to NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. Herbs were the most frequent growth form with 225 species, followed by shrubs (66), and trees (47); in addition, there were 15 climbers. The greatest number of species was recorded in mature forest (208), followed by grassland (98), and medium forest (93). The less diverse growth habits were trees and climbers, while herbs presented the highest diversity. The knowledge of the flora of the Highlands of Chiapas remains necessary to face the loss of biodiversity due to changes in land use.
