BOIVIN RENAUD, René. El barrio gay de París y la reproducción de la injusticia espacial. Nueva antropol [online]. 2012, vol.25, n.76, pp.33-57. ISSN 0185-0636.
The author intends to show that the territorial retreat of the Parisian gay population is linked to the socio-spatial exclusions suffered by the latter within other spheres of their social life. While the existence of commercial or residential gay quarters has often been interpreted as a sign of empowerment of sexual minorities, this research paper offers an alternative view, since such retreat can also be interpreted as one of the effects of heterosexual norms that dictate sexual behavior in the urban space. The gay quarter would be the result of a process of aggregation as well as a consequence of the segregation of practices and expressions of sexual diversity, present outside the gay milieu. Due to its heightened visibility, the Marais in Paris tends to hide and reproduce the spatial injustice suffered on the part of the gay population.
