H. IBAR, Ivan. Agustín Villagra's Exceptional Record of Rock Painting "Mateo A. Saldaña of Ixtapantongo ". An. Inst. Investig. Estét [online]. 2022, vol.44, n.120, pp.339-367.  Epub 31-Out-2022. ISSN 0185-1276.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iie.18703062e.2022.120.2782.

The cave paintings of Ixtapantongo are only known by group I, however Agustín Villagra recorded six pictorial groups. In this work I will show the rubbings made by Villagra, in addition to five photographs taken by him in 1953. The rock art of the place contains at least five styles, the polychrome style stands out for presenting gods, ceremonies and sacrifices with morphological characteristics and techniques similar to the codices. I will expose the particularities of the place and what has been said about it. In addition, Villagra's description of group Il will be illustrated, with its respective tracing and the new drawing derived from the study that I am carrying out. It is the first time that the copies and photographs obtained by Villagra of this site have been published, a collection guarded by the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
