MASIAS NUNEZ, Rodolfo. Productivist language, knowledge and academic achievement in social sciences. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2021, vol.83, n.3, pp.645-670.  Epub 13-Set-2021. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2021.3.60135.

This article deconstructs the meaning and explains the existence of the language used in the social sciences to refer to the practices of academic consummation, such as publishing books or articles. This language is called “productivist language”, because it conceives consummation as “academic production”, its results as “products” and dedication and assiduity as “productivity”. Its postulates or findings are presented in the style of an essay and in the ideal-typical Weberian perspective. It is concluded that, due to the supremacy of the productivist language, we are witnessing a profound phenomenon of resignification of the raison d’être of the social sciences.

Palavras-chave : academic field; social sciences; knowledge; language; academic productivity.
