This article describes the reflections resulting from an analysis of a set of projects identified as ethnographic or qualitative, and linked to university teaching. The starting point is a recognition of the polemical nature of the topic, encompassing its denomination, the amalgam of theoretical influences, the different traditions for carrying out research, and the diverse conditions in which research is done. An explanation is given of the various methodological resources employed, the most recurrent topics, and their contribution to the knowledge of the educational relationship. Actions are proposed that could permit consolidation in the field, such as the preparation of articles that synthesize editorial production, the critical analysis of the social pertinence of the topics developed, and the resource of interinstitutional collegiate work.
