This article reflects upon the Plan Binacional de los Pastos (Pasto Indigenous People Binational Plan), which emerged as a response to the socio-cultural problems of the Colombo-Ecuadorian borderline zone. First, the author examines conceptually the relations, which are created in the borderline zones. Second, the author describes the situation of poverty of the aforementioned geographic space, which is strictly linked to the violence caused by the Colombian armed conflict. Finally, the author analyzes the claims being made by the Pasto indigenous People while taking up notions of autonomy and identity, which may allow for more inclusive states.
