MARTINEZ ZUCCARDI, Soledad. The image of Tucumán in argentine poetry. Latinoamérica [online]. 2016, n.63, pp.129-156. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.larev.2016.11.007.

This article studies the way in which the province of Tucumán (Argentina) is represented in two poetic compilations, which appeared in two very significant moments in the local history: El Tucumán de los poetas (1916), published as part of the celebration of the first century of the national independence of Argentina, and Veinte poetas cantan a Tucumán (1967), edited with the purpose of giving "chants and money" to the homes of the unemployed workers after the closure of sugar mills in 1966. Whereas the first volume describes an idyllic image of Tucumán, the second book depicts a province plunged in crisis, which is mainly suffered by the sugar workers. Such different representations are examined in connection to variables like the ideological atmospheres, the socioeconomic contexts, and the backgrounds of the publishers of each compilation.

Palavras-chave : Poetic compilations; Representations; Province and nation; Argentine poetry in the XXth Century.
