This article pursues to characterize the behavior of cultural periodicals in Cuba, between 1990 and 2010, in the light of the crisis brought about by the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Starting from the principle that these publications reflect, in all aspects that guarantee their existence, the dynamics, trends and phenomena of socio-historical-cultural events, the paper explores and analyzes the sequence of cancellations, closures, intermittencies and resilience strategies used by magazines, tabloids, bulletins and periodicals in correlation with economic, logistic, ideological, social, and aesthetic aspects. Based on the examination of primary and documentary sources, the study reveals the processes that led to the diversification of management formulas and work alternatives, the implementation of local solutions over state ones, the emergence of literary groups outside official institutions, or the use of digital media as a new support.
