ROCCO, Bernardo. Modos narco narrativos de la violencia. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2016, n.12. ISSN 2007-4964.

This article analyses two modes of contemporary narco narratives in Latin America: first, the novel, represented by Roberto Bolaño's 2666 and Elmer Mendoza's La prueba del ácido (The Acid Test); and, second, the chronicle, based on Sergio González Rodríguez' Huesos en el desierto (Bones in the Desert) and Alonso Salazar's La parábola de Pablo, auge y caída de un gran capo del narcotráfico (The Parable of Pablo, the Rise and Fall of a Drug Kingpin). While these are prominent, formal vehicles that represent violence in the corpus analyzed, both narrative forms incorporate modes that are secondary to the main structure of their narrations. Against this background, the article ponders the following questions: What are the characteristics of the novel and chronicle in the context of Latin America narco narratives? What are the specificities of form and content of these two narrative modes in the corpus examined? In what sense do these modes participate in elaborating a new narrative subjectivity related to the issue of the global war on drugs?

Palavras-chave : novel; chronicle; narco-narrative; violence; subjectivity.
