This paper describes the problems of coordination of the Metropolitan Environmental Commission and its importance to the solution of environmental problems in metropolitan area of Mexico City. After comparing the the main international models has made a longitudinal qualitative research based on interviews with the principal public and private stakeholders. As a result of this has been described three organizational scenarios and its analyzed its feasibility, adequacy and acceptability to the power groups. As a result is proposes the creation of the Environmental Institute Metropolitan a new form of environmental management that has a high probability of being accepted by key decision makers.
