The collection of images produced in the last five years by visual artista Chonon Bensho exhibits a series of embroidered landscapes according to traditional Shipibo-Konibo design guidelines, under the elaborate kené technique. Our proposal is that the scenes that are shown allow us to understand the interaction between word, and image in the peculiar form of visual representation that the productive imagination of the artista exposes. This verbo-iconic interaction would be expressed essentially in the incidence of speech acts, and specifically, of singing or sung poetry in the construction of embroidery. For the analysis of the work, we establish a dialogue between the components of the latter and the voices of European philosophy and theory of the image. An approach is sought to the ways in which each Shipibo design goes beyond the literal nature of landscape representation, consolidating its iconic presence, and in turn, an intraimage. All of these, thanks to the correspondence between the metaphors of the song, and the symbolic orbit of the embroidery.
