The laryngospasm is the exaggerated response to the glottic closure reflex. This closure is maintained beyond the stimulus that triggers it, can lead to hypoxia, hypercapnia, pulmonary edema, gastric aspiration, cardiac arrest and death. Although the exact cause is not known, it is thought to laryngeal stimulation works as a trigger mechanism for this reflection. The manoeuvre Rosado-Blanco is an empirical procedure which aims to the relaxation of the laryngeal muscles and vocal cords, so it allows the entrance of air trough the laryngeal passage and the necessary opening for proper ventilation.
