NAJAR-RODRIGUEZ, DA; GONZALEZ-CORDERO, G; GARDUNO-CHAVEZ, BI  e  PALACIOS-RIOS, D. Incidence of laryngospasm after extubation, with technique “No Touch” in the pediatric population. Anest. Méx. [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.2, pp.26-33. ISSN 2448-8771.

Objectives: To assess the incidence of laryngospasm (LE) with the technique of extubation “do not Touch”, without stimuli oropharyngeal, in pediatric patients after general anesthesia. Material and method: A descriptive study was structured, with 100 patients from zero to nine years old, scheduled for several specialties under general anesthesia surgery. After surgery and once suspended the inhaled anesthetics, oral aspiration of secretions, was held while ventilation was maintained spontaneously. Tracheal extubation was performed when the patient presented rhythmic breathing rate adjusted to each patient's age and the swallowing reflex was present. O2 saturation with pulse, presence of laryngeal spasm, cough and bronchospasm oximetry was assessed. Results: 50% of the children presented cough reflex, after removing tracheal tube. Two children presented bronchospasm and two presented laryngospasm. Conclusion: The presence of LE with technique of extubation “do not Touch”, was lower than that reported in the literature (5-21%).
