MAGNI, Caterina. El sistema de pensamiento olmeca, México: originalidad y especificidades. El código glífico y el lenguaje corporal. Cuicuilco [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.60, pp.09-44. ISSN 0185-1659.
Between 1300 and 400 BC, the Olmec civilization developed the basic characteristics of Mesoamerica. Among them, the most notable were the intellectual inventions, including writing. As part of this article, the author's objective is to build a semantic relationship between the graphic code and body language. In fact, certain attitudes of Mesoamerican art contain a hidden evocation of glyphs. The Cross of St. Andrew, one of the most emblematic motifs of the iconography of ancient Mexico, is a good example. The author aims, above all, to decipher its meaning and then compare the drawing with body postures so as to demonstrate that the semantic content of both is analogous.
