MORALES MENA, Agustín  e  PUENTE MARTINEZ, Khemvirg. The Political Culture of University Students before and after the 2018 Election. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2022, vol.67, n.244, pp.195-220.  Epub 17-Abr-2023. ISSN 0185-1918.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2022.244.81303.

This paper presents a longitudinal analysis of the 2018 and 2019 Survey on the Political Culture of University Students (ECPU), which comprised the undergraduate students of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The results reveal the evolution of political culture of those students in six different disciplines shortly after the national elections of July 1st, 2018. The findings prominently show the role played by technology and new forms of digital collaboration to stimulate encounter between young people and new forms of resistance. The results outline a diverse community with a predominant participative political culture and a deep-rooted mistrust of institutions. The latter is fueled by an economic standstill, frequent corruption, systematic impunity and a profound insecurity and violence crisis. Despite a general picture of disinterest, the election was a breaking point for the revaluation of institutions and perceptions on the country’s main issues.
