AYLLON BLANCO, María Fernanda; GALLEGO ORTEGA, José Luis e GOMEZ PEREZ, Isabel Angustias. The action of primary school students in a problem posing process. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.152, pp.51-67. ISSN 0185-2698.
This investigation analyzes how 351 students across six levels of primary education acted when they invented problems. Student beliefs are studied regarding the usefulness of knowing how to solve problems, as well as the formulation of their problem statements, taking into account coherence, operational structure and the number of operations needed to solve the problem. An ad hoc test questionnaire was designed and the data was statistically analyzed (SPSS). From the age of six, students were observed to invent problem statements that constitute mathematical problems and as they progress to the next grade, their inventions become more complex in terms of operational structure; in addition, they invent problems involving at least two operations.
