PARIS POMBO, María Dolores. Agrarian Trade Unionism and Labor Indigenism in Soconusco, Chiapas: 1934-1940. Secuencia [online]. 2006, n.65, pp.67-90. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i65.969.
This article describes the processes of organization of the coffee workers of Soconusco, Chiapas, under the administration of Lázaro Cárdenas and their influence on the state's political structures. During this period, supporters of land reform, trade unionists and indigenisrs joined the political class in Chiapas. They constructed an institutional machinery that permitted industrial arbitration, the control of indigenous workers, workers' and peasants' movements and the expansion of the basis of legitimacy of the post-revolutionary government. The labor policies of Cardenism in Soconusco also led to disputes between trade unions and an increase in the number of strikes and labor conflicts.
