MARTINEZ OLIVERA, Christian; KEN RODRIGUEZ, Crucita Aurora; MIGUEL VELASCO, Andrés Enrique e OJEDA AQUINO, María Soledad. COVID-19 and Municipal Vulnerability. Case Study of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Secuencia [online]. 2024, n.118, e2165. Epub 02-Fev-2024. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i118.2165.
The article analyzes the municipalities that make up the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico during the period 2020-2022, with the aim of investigating the relationship between municipal vulnerability and the effects of COVID-19. It uses a quantitative methodology through the design of municipal vulnerability and COVID-19 effect indices, both structured with documented information from government institutions. It is proposed as a hypothesis that, the lower the municipal vulnerability, the effects of COVID-19 decrease. For its verification, descriptive statistics and regression, and Euclidean distance methods are applied. The results show the proposed association between the analyzed variables; This means that, the lower the municipal vulnerability, the effects of COVID-19 will be lower in the municipalities. This information is important in decision-making and the design of public policies in the post-COVID-19 stage in the state of Quintana Roo.
