LUNA-GIJON, Gerardo e RUIZ-MORALES, Yaret Elsa. Mathematics teaching in graphic design to learn data visualization and information design. Acta univ [online]. 2023, vol.33, e3572. Epub 14-Ago-2023. ISSN 2007-9621. https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2023.3572.
A series of diagnostic tests were performed through a qualitative methodology based on action-research and the constructivist principles of the Minerva University Model (MUM), aiming to develop teaching strategies in data visualization and information design to strengthen the practice of graphic design students from the initial stages of their education. This is a first attempt to measure how to address the teaching process and to generate a long-term action plan. The evidence indicates that students had difficulties when choosing the optimal visualization type. It is concluded that it may be necessary to rethink the contents of the studied subject by guiding the students through the diverse kinds of graphics, focusing teaching on the properties and advantages that each visualization offers to appropriate statistical and visualization concepts.
