ZUNIGA-FAJURI, Alejandra. Theories of distributive justice: a moral foundation of the right to healthcare. Convergencia [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.55, pp.191-211. ISSN 2448-5799.
This essay examines the proposals developed by two of the main theories of distributive justice -libertarianism and egalitarian liberalism- with the purpose of reviewing the possible moral foundations of the right to health care. While libertarianism -which supports "health care mercantilism"- guarantees the idea that the State leaves the distribution of health care to the market, egalitarian liberalism tries to lay the foundations of a direct obligation of the State to guarantee this right, supported on the principle of equality of opportunities developed by Rawls.
