MUNIZ, Carlos. News approaches on migration in Mexican digital press: an analysis of exploratory nature from the framing theory. Convergencia [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.55, pp.213-239. ISSN 2448-5799.
The studies about immigration in the news programs have normally focused on the situation of immigrants' recipient countries. However, it is necessary to examine the information offered from the countries of origin, as Mexico, in order to detect what the news frames used to elaborate their news are. An exploratory content analysis of 228 news stories published in digital Mexican newspapers during 2007 based on the theory of framing was developed. The findings detect four news frames in the news programs: "political debate", "delinquency and expulsion", "processes of regularization" and "migratory experience". Additionally, it is observed that the majority of reported news come from the United States, and the events occurring in Mexico have scarce coverage, especially those that occur in the southern border of Mexico.
