SUSINO, Joaquín  e  MARTINEZ-RESENDIZ, Juana. Labor quotidian mobility in the analysis of territorial structure: Andalusia and central Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.66, pp.137-176. ISSN 2448-7147.

Commuting is recognized as a key variable for the analysis of regional and urban planning at mid levels. Nevertheless, many national statistical systems did not have any information about it until recently; Spain and México are two examples of this situation. The aim of this work is to show the possibilities offered by commuting data analysis on the study of two different contexts: the regional and urban systems of Andalusia (Spain) and the central area of México. The goal is not to compare both spaces, but to apply the methodology previously tested in Andalusia to reveal its analytical potential; in the first place, to identify urban hierarchies and subordinations, and secondly to define and demarcate metropolitan areas.

Palavras-chave : commuting; everyday mobility; urban systems; urban hierarchy; metropolitan areas.
