It is analyzed the economic strategy applied in Mexico during the period 1983-2009, in comparison with those successful strategies applied in developing Asian countries, as well as in the Western developed ones. Conclusions are that the paltry growth of the GDP as well as the employment index in Mexico during this period is the result of the worst economic strategy applied, under the dogmas of the "Washington Consensus". Consequently, the author proposes to reform Mexican economy into an heterodox strategy that support an accelerated and sustained growth within a frame of equity, suggesting -according to international experience- the fundamental principles and instruments of such economic policy to obtain the desired results, considering the national reality and the global economic scene.
