Annona (Annona reticulata L.) is produced in outfield conditions or backyard orchards. Its structural organs, mainly leaves, root, stem bark, seeds, and pulp contain phytochemical compounds, such as tannins, alkaloids, phenols, glycosides, terpenes, flavonoids, and steroids, these compounds have pharmacological, antihelmintic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycemic, antioxidant and cytotoxic properties for several types of cancer. The pulp contains sugars, vitamins, and minerals, having the potential for the development of new food products with bioactive compounds.
