Adolescents face a variety of risk factors; however, familial context can provide protective factors that can reduce these risk factors, which makes understanding family context from the perspective of the adolescent critically important. This research presents item response theory indicators. The objective of the study was to generate validity and reliability indicators for parenting memories, family functionality, and prosocial parenting practices scales through Exploratory Factor Analysis with maximum likelihood and oblique, Rasch analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The sample consisted of 1,536 high school students from Sonora, Mexico of both sexes ranging from 12 to 15 years. Factor loading ranging from 0.52 to 0.80, Cronbach alphas were from 0.79 to 0.94, and CFI indicators were 0.92 to 0.95, RMSEA of 0.04 to 0.06 and SRMR of 0.02 to 0.05; invariance analysis demonstrated results were consistent for the different sexes and grade levels. The measures allow for greater specificity, particularly as it relates to relationships between household variables and the school context.
