El Correo de Ultramar (1842-1886), an illustrated newspaper published in Paris and distributed among the Hispanic public in the Americas, played a central role in introducing and spreading serial novels (the famous French roman-feuilleton, which appeared in Parisian newspapers, such as The Mysteries of Paris or The Count of Monte Cristo) in the main cities of Latin America. This analysis focuses on the editorial effect that Xavier de Lasalle's El Correo produced in the emerging printing press market in Buenos Aires.
