CERVANTES REYES, Haydeé Lorena. A Revolutionary Pedagogy for Awakening: Walter Benjamin on the Radio. Rev. filos. Univ. Iberoam. [online]. 2024, vol.56, n.156, pp.18-70. Epub 17-Maio-2024. ISSN 2954-4602. https://doi.org/10.48102/rdf.v56i156.207.
Between 1927 and 1933, Walter Benjamin wrote radio scripts that were broad-cast on Radio Berlin and Radio Frankfurt, which he himself either acted in and narrated on the air, or directed and participated in their production. Although Benjamin himself viewed these collaborations with a certain disdain, and a large part of the scholars of his work have done similarly -largely because they are aimed at a child audience-, these pieces are particularly relevant because they specify the theoretical postulates of the Berlin philosopher in terms of form and content. This article seeks to show the coherence between the work that Benjamin did for the radio and his philosophical work, by exploring those radio pieces to highlight their critical edge and the way in which they manifest his search, present since his early days in his youth writings: the awakening from capitalist modernity’s dream.
