Composition, taxonomic distinctiveness, and beta diversity of the marine ichthyofauna of Huatulco National Park. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. []. 2023, 94, e944974.   31--2023. The Huatulco National Park (HNP) protects the last reef in the southern Mexican Pacific, considered a cornerstone and genetic reservoir of diverse marine species. The fish composition of the HNP was determined through a literature review and visual censuses between 2015 and 2019. A total of 196 species were recorded, representing an increase of 46 species over previously conducted studies in the park. The species accumulation curve constructed from non- parametric estimators suggests that this represents 75% of the expected fauna. In a regional context, the HNP has high taxonomic richness and diversity. The partitioning of diversity-β between Natural Protected Areas (NPA) showed that species replacement is higher than nesting, suggesting an important ichthyic turnover between NPA. The PNH has a different ichthyic assemblage in terms of taxonomic richness and diversity compared to other NPA, for which strategies should be pursued to mitigate anthropogenic impacts and conserve core and buffer areas in the NPA, monitor harvesting areas and generate scientific dissemination strategies to preserve the genetic pool.
