Preface
The Radiation Physics Division of the Mexican Physical Society organized the II International Symposium on Radiation Physics, which was held on the campus of the Centro de Investigación en Materiales Avanzados (Center of Research for Advanced Materials) in the city of Chihuahua, located in the north of the Mexican Republic, from February 27th through March 2nd, 2006.
The symposium was attended by 43 participants consisting of professors, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students from 10 institutions and 7 countries. A total of 37 presentations addressed a wide variety of subjects related to the study or use of radiation in physics. Talks were given on fundamental physics, instrument development, applications in the natural environment, material characterization, industry and scientific policy, among others.
We would like to recognize the exceptional performance of the local organizing committee and officials of the Centro de Investigación en Materiales Avanzados, whose generous support and efforts on behalf of the symposium made its success possible.
The Symposium was also made possible thanks to the financial support of our sponsors: Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT), Subsecretaría de Educación Superior e Investigación Científica de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (SESIC-SEP), Centro de Investigación en Materiales Avanzados S. C. (CIMAV), División de Física de Radiaciones, Sociedad Mexicana de Física (DFRSMF) and Instituto de Física, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IFUNAM).
Finally, the organizing committee would like to thank all the participants whose contributions made this Symposium possible. We look forward to their support of future international symposia on radiation physics in México.
