This study offers a description and classification of important discursive genres that are part of pedagogical interaction in the educational context between law professors and those referred to as semi-laymen (semilegos), or in this case, undergraduate law students at a Chilean university belonging to the Chilean Council of University Presidents (Consejo de RectoresJ. This description is aimed at serving as a useful pedagogical tool for undergraduate students in the process of developing discursive competencies, following academic literacy guidelines. This study proposes a categorized description composed of three groups of genres, each with its particular functions: those relative to writing as a professional skill, those associated with the students' legal research, and those aimed at creating legal knowledge.
