Our results showed 38 species that are commercialized and used to treat 11 respiratory ailments, being cough the ailment treated by the largest number of species (21/55.2%). Lamiaceae was the family that recorded the largest number of genera and species. 56% (20) of the species are indigenous to Mexico. Branches with leaves and flowers are used from eight species (21%), tea or infusion was the preparation method of the majority of species (33/86.8%) and drinking the infusion as the way of consumption of the majority of species (36/94.7%). 15.7% (6) showed a high Use Value Index.
