This document is a preliminary approach to analyze the migratory policies adopted by sending, receiving, and travelling countries of Central American migrants. Firstly, a brief review of evolution and recent trends of migrant flows is carried out. The regional migratory pattern has experienced two outstanding moments of change in the recent past: i) by the end of the seventies, when the displacements were mainly dued to the general regional social and armed conflict; and, ii) by the beginning of the nineties, when political instability ended, and emerged labor flows mainly oriented towards the North of the Americas.
