Tourism is a major economic sectors internationally, gaining importance in developing countries. The objective of this research is to analyze the tourism potential of a developing destination located in a border area (border tourism), in particular the province of Dajabón (Dominican Republic). Another objective was to determine the perception of residents to tourism and elements that affect this sector. The aim is to develop proposals for better tourism in this location, with the mission of this sector promotes sustainable development in this geographic area. The methodology consisted of a combination of interviews, focus groups and surveys. The results show that the province of Dajabón has great tourism potential, although the perception of residents towards this activity is very low.
