Resumen

CERNA-CHAVEZ, Ernesto et al. Evaluation of plant extracts on incidence and severity of Hemileia vastatrix in coffee cultivation. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.18, pp.557-563.  Epub 20-Feb-2020. ISSN 2007-901X.  https://doi.org/10.19136/era.a6n18.2182.

Hemileia vastatrix is a destructive disease worldwide that afflicts coffee producers and exporters in Mexico. The objective was to evaluate the incidence and severity of coffee rust after the application of commercial products in two varieties of coffee, Típica and Caturra, in Atoyac de Álvarez Guerrero. We evaluated five commercial plant extracts at doses of 2.25 L ha-1 and the control. Seven applications were made, at 21-day intervals. The highest mean severity was in the Típica variety control with 61.87%. A significant reduction in severity was observed in all extracts evaluated, and the lowest records in both varieties were in the Cinnamomum verum and Citrus sinensis treatments, with 15.47 and 19.68% and 4.73 and 4.00% for Típica and Caturra, respectively; therefore, they are an alternative to reduce the severity of coffee rust.
