FLORES-PARDAVE, Lizbeth; PALACIOS-VARGAS, José G.; CASTANO-MENESES, Gabriela y CUTZ-POOL, Leopoldo G. Q.. Collembolans from agricultural soils with alfalfa and corn crops amended with biosolids in Aguascalientes, México. Agrociencia [online]. 2011, vol.45, n.3, pp.353-362. ISSN 2521-9766.
Many of the studies on biosolids refer to the positive effects of their application in crops, but there is little information on the evaluation of their effect on the biological component of the edaphic subsystem. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate their action on the collembolans in alfalfa and corn crops in the state of Aguascalientes. With pitfall traps used in 2004 and 2005, eight species were collected, of which Ballistura schoetti, Entomobrya ca. triangularis and Seira purpurea were the most abundant. The addition of organic matter present in the biosolids propitiated a great population development of B. schoetti in both crops. Precipitation was the environmental variable best related with the abundance of collembolans, species diversity was low in all of the experimental conditions, and the species composition was lower in the corn crop.
