GONZALEZ, John de Jesús; VALDES MEDINA, Filiberto Enrique y SAAVEDRA GARCIA, María Luisa. Success factors in financing for SMEs through crowdfunding in Mexico. Rev. mex. econ. finanz [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, e471. Epub 08-Abr-2022. ISSN 2448-6795. https://doi.org/10.21919/remef.v16i2.471.
The present work focuses on the increasing interest globally for FinTech studies in general, and particularly in crowdfunding, as a technological tool that allows the funding of assorted entrepreneurship initiatives. The aim is to identify the factors that impact the financing success of SMEs who partake in crowdfunding platforms using the covariance technique analysis (ANCOVA) on the risk ratings while statistically controlling loan amount, loan term, interest rate and number of funders. The analysis shows that risk ratings significantly impact funding success, also proving to be relevant covariates: the interest rate paid, loan amount, and the number of funders, not the case for loan term since it is a low significance covariate. From the analysis of financing success and its relationship with risk ratings, the yield rate stands out as the main incentive in the funding of SMEs, however, it remains to extend the researchs to evaluate the ethical, social, and environmental impact on funding decisions.
