Resumen

VAZQUEZ-MARROQUIN, Rafael et al. Diversity and distribution of mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) on the Mexico-Guatemala border. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2023, vol.94, e944063.  Epub 31-Jul-2023. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2023.94.4063.

Mosquito collection was conducted intradomiciliary and peridomiciliary along the Chiapas-Guatemala international border during October-November 2018. We collected 4,439 specimens belonging to 2 subfamilies, 18 genera and 41 species, one of which Mansonia dyari (Belkin, and Page, 1970) is a new record for Chiapas, and 21 species with medical importance were found. Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes aegypti were the most common species. Some municipalities with the highest number of species and individuals were not the most diverse and equitable, with a high dissimilarity in species composition. The intradomiciliary collections obtained the highest abundances of species, however the diversity and evenness were low in contrast with the peridomiciliary collections, where obtained slightly high dissimilarity among species. The results obtained have importance for the establishment of surveillance and mosquito control programs in the state of Chiapas, since they provide basic information on the occurrence and distribution of mosquito fauna.
