CORDOVA-CONTRERAS, Roberto J. y IDROVO, Álvaro J.. Medición de la vulnerabilidad: el caso de la adicción a drogas ilícitas en Chihuahua, México. Región y sociedad [online]. 2010, vol.22, n.49, pp.239-263. ISSN 2448-4849.
This study explores a method previously used by Rogers to quantify vulnerability without empirical data to support its utility. Rogers' model uses an equilateral triangle in which each side represents personal resources and environmental support, and the base represents vulnerability level. Data from the Encuesta estatal de adicciones [State Addictions Survey] carried out in 2002 for the state of Chihuahua are used, and results are compared to the findings obtained using a traditional epidemiological approach. The conventional approach identified risk factors present in similar studies. Comparison between the two methods showed important differences, but it was not possible to infer which is the better method. Further studies may explore the usefulness of this method in varied contexts.
