to promote collaborative fisheries management it is essential to consider fisher’s heterogeneity as individuals, moreover the analysis and interaction of exogenous and endogenous forces in the fishing localities.
Objective:
to analyze the effect of public policies in shaping the Lake Pátzcuaro’s fishery organization structures from 1930 to 2020.
Methodology:
historical research review of primary sources, compared to statistical information, and interviewing of key social actors.
Results:
the constant Mexican government intervention has resulted in social fragmentation, expressed in diverse organizational schemes that in present times reflect a social rupture of fishers but it is also shown community vindication.
Value:
research highlights the importance of a historical approach at a regional scale regarding fisheries management.
Limitations:
the investigation requires a participatory approach to analyze the current organizational forms.
Conclusions:
para la gestión colaborativa de la pesca, es necesario considerar la heterogeneidad del grupo de los pescadores, además del análisis de la interacción entre fuerzas exógenas y endógenas a las localidades pesqueras.
