GONZALEZ PEREZ, Marco Antonio. Social representation of discrimination in spaces mediated by technology in the distance psychology career of the University National Autonomous of Mexico (UNAM). Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.32, e0001989. Epub 21-Abr-2023. ISSN 2007-8110.
To study social representations of discrimination in technology mediated spaces in psychology students of the Open University and Distance Education System (SUAYED) of the UNAM, an instrument was applied to a sample of 675 students, with an average of 36.7 years, 72.6 % (490) women and 27.4 % (185) men. This report qualitatively analyzes the answers to the question: how does social discrimination manifest in your learning spaces? It was found that 44 % (297) reported acts of discrimination towards them, mainly from teachers, since they leave class or do not respond to messages or academic requests; of institutions outside SUAYED that do not allow students to carry out supervised internships in their facilities, and from students and teachers belonging of the psychology career face-to-face system and finally, distance students who discriminate among themselves by age, place of origin and previous studies. It was identified that the shared social representation of discrimination in distance students impacts their academic performance and school permanence. Undoubtedly, through pedagogical and administrative actions, social relations, technologically mediated, could be improved, in the distance psychology career of the UNAM, avoiding school dropouts and lags.
