Background
The production of edible mushrooms is an alternative for the obtaining of food, management of agricultural residues and use of plant resources; in the case of Arundo donax, besides being an invasive exotic species in riparian systems, it is an efficient producer of biomass, with a high content of nutrients, which makes it an adequate substrate for the production of the oyster mushrooms.
Objective
To evaluate the productive and proximal potential of the strain CP-50 of P. ostreatus, using wild reed in comparison and combination with agricultural residues, under controlled conditions.
Methods
The wild reed was selected and three agricultural residues from the Tetela de Ocampo region, Puebla. The biological efficiency, the production rate and the biodegradation rate were evaluated in a randomized block design, also it has been made proximal chemical study of the basidiomas obtained from the strain CP-50 and A. donax as a substrate, calculated the energy value (Kcal/100 g) of the oyster mushrooms for each treatment.
Results and conclusions
Arundo donax as a substrate obtained the highest yield, since I present a high concentration of protein and dry matter, which benefits the productive potential of the strain CP-50 in agricultural residues of the region.
